Pls counsel each college for further info

*The information in these columns mainly applies to international applicants. Please take note that F-1 visa preparation and processing may take an additional 1-3 months. Earlier preparation is highly recommended.

**According to the information on the U.S. embassy website, before February 15, 2023, student (F and M) visas for new students can be issued up to 120 days in advance of the start date for a course of study. Effective from February 15, 2023, the U.S. embassy announced that this 120-day rule is changed to 365 days. We encourage student visa applicants to submit a visa application and schedule a visa interview as soon as they receive their Form I-20.

  6. I-20 form for international applicants In addition to satisfying the general graduate admissions criteria of Olivet University’s programs, international applicants must have the Form I-20 from Olivet before going to the U.S. Consulate/Embassy to apply for the F1 visa.

The following conditions must be met before the Form I-20 can be issued to an applicant:

    • Acceptance of admission to Olivet University
    • The applicant must present evidence that he/she has funds to meet all expenses for the entire period of study, including round-trip transportation, living costs, health insurance, fees, tuition, and books.
    • A deposit is generally required of applicants currently residing outside of the U.S. The amount of the deposit varies depending on Olivet University’s assessment of the applicant’s ability to meet the financial obligations of a student.

International applicants should submit the Certificate of Financial Responsibilities (CFR) form and relevant financial supporting documentation for the International Student Office to access and evaluate in order to issue the I-20 form.

  7. After receiving the I-20 form, the international student should schedule the F1 visa interview. Detailed F1 visa requirements and information can be found on the U.S. embassy website of each country.
    • 365-day rule: Student (F and M) visas for new students can be issued up to 365 days in advance of the start date for a course of study. We encourage student visa applicants to submit a visa application and schedule a visa interview as soon as they receive their Form I-20.
    • 30-day rule: All recipients of an F or M student visa should be aware that Department of Homeland Security regulations require all initial or beginning students to enter the US 30 days or less in advance of the program start/report date as shown on the Form I-20.
    • International applicants should always inform the Office of Admissions of their F1 visa interview result and their plan (pass, try again, or defer enrollment to a future quarter)

  8. Attend orientation: Once you have accepted the admission offer, you will need to attend an orientation session. This will help you get acquainted with the campus, academic programs, and campus culture, and help you prepare for your first quarter.
